The FDA has video on food allergies on its website. It is a good summary. I like the doctor's definitions. It sounds nit-picky, but the distinction is important. Please note them.
Food intolerance is the body's abnormal reaction to a food, but in a way that does not involve the immune system.
Food allergy is the body's reaction to a food, that was triggered by the body's immune system.
Factoid: 2% of adults have allergic reactions to foods, but 4-8% of children have allergic reactions to foods.
