Unfortunately for the Southeastern states of the U.S., during week 35, ending Sept. 05, 2009, the CDC statistics show widespread influenza activity in Guam and 11 states (Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Tennessee).
In other news, the CDC approved the new H1N1 vaccine yesterday. Mass vaccinations are planned beginning next month. If as usual, after the initial rush of high demand through October, demand will fall sharply. Typically about about 40% of people actually get vaccinated each year.
If you can't get the vaccine during October, please do not give up! Be patient and get vaccinated!
