1. The normal influenza vaccine contains the three strains experts most likely think will dominate the flu season. Only one injection is necessary, unless the patient is a child 9 years of age or younger and that child has never received the flu vaccine before.
2. Experts recommend that everyone receive the vaccine for H1N1 in 2 injections, at least 1 week apart.
3. So people interested in prevention will receive 3 injections this year. Hopefully soon for the H1N1 vaccine, although I have not received nor been able to find any definitive dates on availability yet. I found out that Walgreens has regular flu vaccine available in some stores already.
