Pay attention, because things are changing rapidly and somewhat for the worse...(from large to small)...
1. The World Health Organization has raised the alert level to 5 (for pandemic could be imminent), out of possible of 6. This is only the second time this level has been issued.
2. Both oseltamivir and zanamivir seem to be effective treating swine influenza A (H1N1).
3. The number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the U.S. continues to rise daily.
4. In Texas, a 22-month old infant, who travelled from Mexico City, became the first casualty from swine flu in the U.S.
5. In South Carolina, thus far the CDC considers the two probable cases from Newberry not to definite yet.
6. In my own practice, I have not seen any one with what I would highly suspect is swine flu. Still I am urging all of my patients to do preventative precautions.
More to follow...
