Swine Flu Epidemic Update 8 Day 11

1. The WHO reports 1,117 confirmed cases in 21 countries, with 26 deaths. Twenty-five in Mexico and one in the U.S.
2. The number of cases is slowing in Mexico. However, the number of confirmed cases in the U.S. is expected to continue to rise at least during the next month.
3. The Southern hemisphere will be watched carefully by the WHO, because their winter and traditional flu season is approaching.
4. Schools in the U.S. are still weighing whether or not to resume classes.
5. Clues to a likely case: fever > 101.0 F, travel to an endemic area or contact with some one who has flu, sore throat and lower respiratory infection.
6. Irregardless, people should still take preventative steps.
