Can Astragalus Boost the Immune System?

Astragalus is an herb. It was originally used in China and is still being studied there. Publications on PubMed cite Chinese journals. There is minimal clinical data in Western journals. On the internet, Astragalus is claimed to have a wide variety of benefits, such as boost the immune system, aid digestion, improve metabolism and increase the circulation. I wish it did, or rather I hope objective scientists can isolate the active compounds and show they are safe and effective. Until then, I can't recommend Astragalus, on the basis of curently available facts.
