Green tea and asthma

This week, I read about the potential benefits of drinking three to four cups of decaffeinated green tea daily. The subjects had greater dilatation of their heart arteries when measured thirty minutes later than people drinking placebo. Here's the article http://www.jcardiovascularrisk.com/pt/re/ejcpr/abstract.00149831-200806000-00009.htm;jsessionid=LwWQkVhjQRhmg8v2jhSLGZTq9J8B32lDg01V3RTJnTYmhgJznrcg!-1256353567!181195629!8091!-1 and here's a good commentary http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1820250,00.html?xid=feed-yahoo-full-healthsci. Other studies suggest benefit.

I have been asked before if drinking green tea can benefit asthma or allergies. My search of the medical literature concludes the answer is no at this time. Unfortunate, but this won't stop me from having my daily cup of green tea. It is not a big deal for me, given my Chinese background. My family and friends drink tea like water. I think the benefits of drinking decaffeinated green tea will be better documented in the future by researchers. Cheers!
